SHINee's 'Everybody' Showcases Some of 2013's Top Choreography: Watch

The K-pop boy band brings synchronized lifts, spins, jumps and more for the EDM banger.

After SHINee teased their new EP last week with R&B track "Symptoms," the K-pop boy unveiled new single "Everybody." While SHINee's K-pop singles "Dream Girl" and "Why So Serious?," released earlier this year, highlighted the quintet's knack for sugar-coated harmonies and bubblegum pop, their latest dives headfirst into EDM.

While it's become trendy to for pop stars to incorporate the occasional dubstep chorus or bridge, SHINee crams in loads of dubstep alongside bleeps, bloops, build-ups and breakdowns. The electronic overload is topped off with sweet boy band harmonies, resulting an easy-to-digest electro-pop track -- an example INFINITE could have followed with their jarring, yet still a Top 5 K-Pop Hot 100 hit, "Destiny."

While finding a delicous balance of hyperactive EDM and pop stylings is commendable, the most impressive point of SHINee's "Everybody" comeback is the choreography -- some of 2013's best. (Add Kahi's recently-unveiled "It's Me" performance to that growing list too.)

The boys are in a constant state of twirling, jumping and lifting each other in the accompanying music video. In the first 45 seconds, watch SHINee go from laying on the ground to breaking out intense, full-blown dance moves. The only moment it looks like the boys can take a breath is while acting out slow motion running sequences. 

A highlight comes during the bridge (3:30) when the boys bunch around member Taemin to simulate driving a human airplane. The move is reminiscent when TVXQ! linked arms with their backup dancers to create the illusion of giant, bulging arms during in the K-pop duo's "Catch Me" performances.

SHINee recreated the choreography step-for-step on TV this weekend, but this time adding live singing to the mix. Watch SHINee nail their difficult performance on K-pop music chart show "Music Bank" below:

"Everybody" and the Underdogs-produced "Symptoms" are lifted from the quintet's new seven-track EP "Everybody." Look out for the release to make a splash on Billboard's World Albums chart (where the boys have three Top 5 entries) and Heatseekers Albums chart (with three Top 10 efforts) next week. If the boys can keep the momentum up this year to land on the Billboard 200, they'll be the second K-pop act to do so this year.

Apa yang Spesial dari Video Musik 'Everybody' SHINee?

SHINee baru saja merilis video musik lagu terbarunya 'Everybody'. Tampil membawakan lagu bernuansa dubstep yang kental, apa yang spesial dari video musik ini?

SM Entertainment dikenal sebagai perusahaan paling berpengaruh di Korea. Namun, di saat yang sama dikenal juga sebagai perusahaan yang jarang menampilkan sesuatu yang 'mewah' dalam video musik artis-artisnya.

Video musik dari SM Entertainment seringkali hanya bermodalkan beberapa kali ganti kostum dan background. Kemudian, di depan latar belakang dan dengan pakaian yang berbeda, sang artis akan melakukan koreografi yang kemudian di-edit cut-to-cut.

Itu pula yang diterapkan perusahaan yang didirikan Lee Soo Man tersebut dalam video musik 'Everybody' SHINee kali ini. Namun, selain hanya pergantian latar belakang dan kostum, video berdurasi 4 menit 36 detik tersebut dibuka dengan cara yang berbeda.

Jonghyun, Onew, Key, Minho dan Taemin tampak berbaring di awal video. Sebuah kabel bercahaya terhubung ke masing-masing member yang kemudian dialiri listrik oleh seorang anak kecil bertopeng yang misterius.

Seiring dengan listrik yang mengalir ke tubuh para member, Key bangkit dari tidurnya. Dia pun mulai membangunkan satu per satu personel SHINee dan menyanyikan lirik 'Everybody wake up, wake up!'.

Kualitas paling nyata yang ditampilkan SHINee dalam video musik ini adalah koreografi. Mulai dari gerakan membangunkan Taemin di awal MV dengan diangkat dan dilempar ke udara, sampai gerakan melayang Jonghyun dan Taemin yang masing-masing diangkat beberapa sentimeter oleh Onew dan Key.

Koreografi dalam video musik ini didominasi oleh gerakan melompat namun padu, cepat dan menawarkan konsep teatrikal. Menjadi karakter robot mainan dalam video, gerakan memutar kunci di punggung masing-masing member untuk menggerakkan mereka juga diselipkan.

Klimaks dari koreografi dalam lagu ini dimulai sejak menit ke 03:26 ketika kamera meluncur dari depan melalui bawah kaki para member yang sedang berbaris ke belakang. Taemin cs melanjutkan koreografi alaBeetle Dance dengan kompak dalam formasi barisan.

Dimulai dengan posisi berbaring, video 'Everybody' juga diakhiri dengan formasi tidur di lantai. Sebelum mengakhiri koreografinya, para member sempat juga melambaikan tangan ke arah kamera.
